A families love, one year on

Baby Adaliya was born on Valentine’s Day at just 25 weeks and needed to spend the next three-months in the NICU at John Hunter Hospital, far from home.

Mum, Charlotte called Ronald McDonald House her home for during this time throughout her stay and felt the love, compassion, and support of the Ronald McDonald House family.

Her family had nourishing meals at the ready thanks to the generous organisations that participating in Our ‘Meals from the Heart’ and ‘Cooked with Love’ programs as well as comfortable place to stay just 5 minutes’ walk from Adaliya in hospital.

Charlotte shares, “The volunteers and staff at the House were amazing, it truly feels like my home away from home. The dinners cooked twice a week were a big bonus, and having a supportive community around us made a huge difference. Being able to connect with other families going through a similar ordeal also helped us through the toughest of times. Every contribution towards Ronald McDonald House makes a big difference to families like mine.”

One year on, Adaliya is a cheeky one-yearold who loves cuddles, tickles and making silly sounds, just like every other child her age. The family continues to feel the love with visits to the House during regular hospital for checkups for Adalyia.
