Finding strength, support and sunshine

In 2022, six-year-old Kit’s family’s world was turned upside down. What started as a long night in emergency quickly led to a life-changing cancer diagnosis and more than two years of intensive treatment. Kit faced it all with incredible courage, curiosity, and his signature sense of humour.

Throughout his journey, thanks to you, we were able to be there to support his family. The Family Room became a comforting space to rest, recharge, and escape the hospital environment—even just for a moment. For Kit, the pancake machine was a clear highlight.

The family also stayed at our Forster Retreat in 2023 and again in 2024, just as Kit was finishing treatment. These stays were a chance to reconnect, enjoy the outdoors, and meet other families who understood. “It was the first time in a long time I truly relaxed,” Kit’s mum said.

Now, post-treatment, Kit is thriving. He’s back at school, enjoying karate, having playdates with friends, and loving life as a regular kid. For Kit and so many others, RMHC provided more than just a place to stay—it gave them the support and space to heal together.
