Smiles for families during Country Music Festival

Tamworth was abuzz during the Country Music Festival held in January, as the community came together in a spectacular show of support for sick kids and their families being supported by Ronald McDonald House.

It was especially exciting for 9-year-old Summer, her mum, Donna and two brothers who were staying at the House so they could be together following Summer’s recent surgery.

The House welcomed an array of country music artists who wanted to give back to families with sick kids during their time in Tamworth.

Tori Drake, headline act at our “Country Under the Vines,” event stopped by to say hello, along with family favourites, The Wiggles.

Donna was over the moon to sing along with blue Wiggle, Anthony.

For Summer, the highlight was country artist, James Johnston stopping by after completing his 110km fundraising run from Armidale to Tamworth.

During her stay Summer had been spending a lot of her time playing Uno and was thrilled when James signed her Uno card and created a new rule of “Draw 10,” which she planned to put to good use against her brothers.

The Pub Group’s support extended beyond “Country Under The Vines,” where a stellar lineup of artists like Tori gave up their time to raise vital funds for sick kids.

They lent a helping hand to fundraise at their venues, Moonshiners, and during The Pub’s Charity Concert.

RMHC’s forever and founding mission partner, McDonald’s, was “lovin’ it” amongst the country music fans.

Together with our volunteers, everyone did their bit to help raise funds to keep families like Summer’s together.

Thanks to the support of the community, families can be close during the tough times and celebrate special memories at Ronald McDonald House. We tip our country hats to you all.
