Taking time out together

‘Ozzie’ and his family are no strangers to RMHC having first stayed at Ronald McDonald House back in 2017.  Ozzie was just 2 years and 3 months old when he was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. They called Ronald McDonald House ‘Home’ for a staggering 263 nights while Ozzie underwent treatment.

Parents, Alana and Nathan stopped work during that time to focus on their family and the journey they would go through to see Ozzie to remission.  And after 821 days Ozzie completed his final treatment.

Since that time, they have celebrated many milestones together, always reflecting on how lucky they are to have one another. Things like Ozzie going to pre-school a confident and happy little boy, saving up for his first Nintendo, starting school and most of all welcoming little sister, Zara.

More recently, their family took time out to visit the Family Retreat in Forster.  For many families with a sick or injured child, a holiday is the furthest thing from their mind and often unaffordable.

Nathan, Alana, Ozzie and Zara travelled to Forster and spent a wonderful week together at the Family Retreat overlooking the beautiful Wallis Lake, making memories and celebrating Christmas together.

We’re so glad to see Ozzie and his family doing well and enjoying the support that RMHC can continue to provide them…all thanks to our generous community of donors.
