Ronald McDonald House Family Room programs

Our Family Rooms are welcoming spaces where you can take time out from the clinical environment of the wards, have a tea or coffee, freshen up with a shower or find a quiet space for a much-needed nap. The spaces also have dedicated play areas so the siblings of seriously ill children can have a bit of fun.

Our Family Rooms are staffed by passionate volunteers, providing friendly and compassionate support to the families that visit each day.

A Ronald McDonald House Family Room is a calm space away from the medical environment, where family stays close while taking a moment to breathe. During long days of tests and treatment, it gives families a place to rest, shower, grab a bit to eat, or simply pause.

When days feel never-ending, these small moments of care matter. In a Family Room, families can recharge, meet others walking a similar path, and regain the strength they need to be there for their child.

Who can use a Ronald McDonald House Family Room

We want to make sure families have a ‘home away from home’ inside the hospital, away from the clinical environment of the ward. That’s why our Family Rooms are purpose built for the free and exclusive use of parents, carers, guardians and their families with kids undergoing inpatient or outpatient treatment at John Hunter Children’s and Gosford Hospitals.

Our Family Rooms are staffed by passionate volunteers, providing friendly and compassionate support to the families in the space during operating hours.
