Ronald McDonald House Family Room: NICU John Hunter Children's Hospital

Our Ronald McDonald Family Room is a refuge for you and your family while you have an infant receiving treatment in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at John Hunter Children’s Hospital. Step away from the ward and into our inviting Family Room where you’ll find a kitchen stocked with essentials, a cosy lounge and a children’s play space.  The NICU Family Room also includes 2 overnight emergency accommodation rooms.

When a child is in hospital, being close matters. Our Ronald McDonald House Family Room: NICU John Hunter Children’s Hospital means family stays nearby, even during the longest and hardest days.

Our Family Room offers families a gentle pause from the intensity of hospital care. A place to gather themselves, share a quiet moment, and feel less alone, while never being far from their child. It is a space that understands the emotional weight families carry and offers comfort without asking anything in return.

Because when families are needed most, staying close can make all the difference.

Who can use the Ronald McDonald House Family Hub: NICU John Hunter Children’s Hospital?

We want to make sure parents of newborn babies needing extra care have a ‘home away from home’ inside the hospital, away from the clinical environment of the ward. That’s why our Ronald McDonald House Family Room is free and open to all families who have an infant receiving care in the NICU at John Hunter Children’s Hospital.

Our Ronald McDonald House Family Room: NICU John Hunter Children’s Hospital is staffed by passionate volunteers, providing friendly and compassionate support to the families in the space during operating hours.
