When your child falls ill and your family needs to be near the hospital, far from home and your support system, life can be incredibly tough and isolating. Having a ‘home away from home’ with a strong sense of community and understanding can help ease the burden a little.
Families staying at Ronald McDonald House (RMH) Newcastle have access to a range of facilities and programs to help make each day a little easier.
Facilities include a playroom, outdoor playground and BBQ, family lounge, laundry, and a communal kitchen and dining area.
So, whether you’ll be staying with us for just a couple of nights or have many months ahead of you, our team will endeavour to make you feel welcome and supported.
Rooms can be booked by calling the Ronald McDonald House Newcastle team on (02) 4921 4733.
RMHC Northern NSW staff and volunteers are here to lend a helping hand before, during and after your stay.
Our dedicated volunteers can be found throughout the house any day and time of the week. Look out for their blue shirts and welcoming faces.
Our tirelessly dedicated team of staff are guided by our House Manager, Kristen. If at any time you need to speak to Kristen and the team, you will find their office space at the front of the House.
Keeping the family together can be extremely tough without support, which is why we offer accommodation for parents with sick kids who need to travel to the Newcastle area for treatment.
We try to accommodate the needs of families where we can, but this is always subject to availability. Priority is given to families whose children have been recently diagnosed, have a serious or life threatening illness, are seriously injured or who require emergency treatment, as well as families of premature babies.
